Help for Indonesia Earthquake

As you¡¦ve probably heard, in just 4 minutes 6,234 people died, 33,321 were severely injured; and 67,505 homes were destroyed after the magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit central Java, Indonesia on Saturday the 27th.  (source: Indonesia's Social Affairs Ministry reported as of May 31st)

This area was already on watch as a nearby volcano on Mount Merapi had been building in activity, and as you know the country is still recovering from the Tsunami.

Aid is beginning to arrive but many villages in central Java are still waiting for help.  Many are responding and Global Hope Network is joining in and needs your help.

Through Asian and local partners, Global Hope Network (GHN) will be helping in two ways: 1) with women¡¦s personal needs that have been forgotten in tragedies like this and 2) sending in medical teams to treat injuries.

WOMEN NEED HELP AND THEIR PERSONAL NEEDS ARE OFTEN FORGOTTEN¡K

From GHNI’s Tsunami relief and other on-going humanitarian service in Indonesia, we have learned that women’s personal kits for women victims are usually an overlooked need.  Often outer garments are sent but undergarments and feminine products are ignored, but can provide significant help and hope.  When such gifts were given in the past, many women cried upon receiving them and shared their hearts as they saw this personal love and care expressed to them.

Global Hope Network through local teams of women from other Indonesian cities and partners in surrounding countries will distribute as many kits as can be raised.  We are estimating tens of thousands of displaced women having need in the affected area of central Java.

JUST 5 DOLLARS CAN BRING HELP AND HOPE TO AN IMPACTED WOMAN...

The women kits only cost 5 Dollars a piece to put together and deliver.  Sample kit for women in this earthquake zone would include:

- Brush or comb

- Toothpaste and Toothbrush

- Lipstick

- Feminine pads

- 2 pairs of women's underwear

- Powder

- Washcloth

* For four additional dollars the kit could also include a Sarong (typical wrap used as clothing).

YOUR GIFT would give an Indonesian women or Asian partner who are distributing these kits an opportunity to present this little gift of love to another women who has lost everything.  This will also give the distributor a chance to take time to listen to the hurting women¡¦s heart stories, share compassion and many times the meaning of true Love and Hope (as those distributing are often asked why they have come to bring help and give such a personal gift).

MEDICAL TEAMS PREPARE TO GO HELP

Not only will GHN be helping the women with personal distributions, but GHN is preparing Indonesian and Asian medical teams to come in and treat the urgent medical needs that are still untreated.  The total cost to send an indigenous team in for a week to the affected area for travel, housing and medical supplies is 3,500 dollars.
